Surfing on rainy days? It may sound not right and unfit to the season but it's something that can be exciting too! My friends and I went to Baler for an awesome surfing experience, and we had one of the best weekend treat for this year.

Some Tips:


Going to Baler is now made easy. The most convenient way is by taking Genesis Bus straight to Baler. Genesis is the only bus company at this time that regularly transports passengers from Manila to Baler and vice versa. A local tourist has two options: one is to ride Joy Bus for 700 pesos and that's for 4-hours drive, no stop overs along the way. The second is to take its regular aircon bus for 450 pesos, one-way transportation and that's for 6-7 hours drive and with maximum of 4 stop-overs, depending on the driver. The earliest departure from Cubao is at 3:00AM and the latest is 7:00AM.

If you would like your transportation cost to be much cheaper, you have the option to take buses to Cabanatuan City for about 180 peso fare, and from Cabanatuan Bus Terminal, you could ride vans or regular buses bound to Baler. The fare is about a hundred and fifty pesos. It depends.


Going back to Manila is also convenient. Genesis Bus can bring you back to Metro Manila but you need to be mindful of the bus schedule in order not to miss the ride. It is advisable to make reservations for your return ticket. You may ask the bus collector for details. Usually, the bus leaves at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

If your itinerary ends at night or late in the afternoon and there is no more bus going to Manila, you may take a van to Cabanatuan for 230 pesos per seat. Just ask the driver to drop you off at pick-up points for buses bound to Manila. Super Lines and ES transport are common buses that have regular trips 24x7 from Cabanatuan City to Pasay or Cubao. Bus fare ranges from 180-200.
